大部分人看到牠都會好奇這是什麼貓？這隻外型獨特的喵星人是所有小型貓科中最重(除了橘貓，尤其是奶奶養大的)、奔跑速度最快，壽命達17年以上，雖然牠們多分佈在非洲和西亞等地，居住在乾草原和半沙漠環境，但牠們卻意外和人容易親近，於是在美國不少人養牠當寵物。而這個親人又有野性美的喵星人品種事-獰貓。

獰貓的毛髮有許多種顏色－有酒紅色、灰色和沙灰色，也會有黑化的獰貓。
